Hi, Thank you for posting here. Since we can print from Windows clients properly, it indicates Windows Printing Server is working OK. Base on my research, we may have to setup a CUPS server so that Linux client communicate with CUPS Server and CUPS communicate with Windows Printer Server using IPP. Specifies that any a client may access a resource if either the authentication (AuthType/Require) or address (Allow/Deny/Order) conditions are satisfied. For example, this can be used to require authentication only for remote accesses. The first time I attempt to print, the printer job halts with a 'Hold for Authentication' message, but the login prompt never comes up. Looking at that print job I can cancel the job, or I can hit the refresh button, which will then bring up the login prompt.

I'm using CUPS to print on an enterprise network. The job gets submitted fine, but I need to submit it as another username. Now I'm
jon but I need to send it as say jonallard .
A computer running CUPS is a host that can accept print jobs from client computers, process them, and send them to the appropriate printer.: CUPS is the print queue system used by Mac. This is the same queue system used by many other UNIX based platforms including popular Linux distributions.

On the command line, one could print as such
How do I customize the username part when using the GUI printing dialogs and the Printing system settings?
It is possible that it isn't, in fact, possible to add this username to the Ubuntu print config. If so, where should I ask for an improvement?

According to the man page https://www.cups.org/doc/man-client.conf.html, a
User directive could be placed in /etc/cups/client.conf or ~/.cups/client.conf Sugar bytes turnado vst free download.
However, this didn't work for me in Kubuntu Trusty. What worked, was to export the
CUPS_USER environment variable by adding the following line in ~/.profile :
Needless to say (but I say), that you need to change
vangelis to the username you would like to use.
You also need to restart your system so that the changes take effect in the desktop environment! https://treebright291.weebly.com/download-lemonade-tycoon-mac-reddit.html. Dalaran-wow 3.3.5a client for mac.
This information can be found at CUPS 1.6b1 release notes here: https://www.cups.org/blog.html (search for CUPS_USER)

The issue has been reported as a bug (856776) and is now on the wishlist.

This works for our system. Tested in Ubuntu 10.04 - 14.04, Linux MintPrint server Canon Uniflow, secure printing Jabebr client for mac.
First, stop cups
Mac Cups Client Hold For Authentication Error
Then edit the file
/etc/cups/printers.conf and add your username to the DeviceURI like this:
Now start cups again
However, be aware that this setting effects all users on this machine.

You could use the username in the IPP URI when adding the printer queue, see this document for details:
Hold For Authentication Mac Print
Otherwise I can see no options in cups or gnome print dialogs to help you select a username for printing.

Always a bit late re. the original question, but the solution that worked for me in 2018 (and on Debian, but I assume the procedure is similar) is to edit, as root, the file /etc/cups/printers.conf, and to add the directiveUser official-user-from-printer's-povin the printer part. Too bad I couldn't find it on the shiny cups admin interface.
Mac Based Authentication

Make mac app in c. I had the same problem as you, and I found a way to do this on my machine. On (X)ubuntu 14.04, I had to set the 'Job/Billing Info' value in the print menu. Then, the print arrived correctly at my printer. I attached a screenshot for your reference. No other settings were necessary (apart from setting up the printer initially using its URI).
